Mentoring
and coaching
Creating
a regular space to reflect on your own career or business decisions
is important and there are times when being able to discuss options,
situations that have arisen or explore greenfield options with an
experienced mentor is invaluable. Wairua Consulting is able to offer
you and your management team individual or group based, one-off,
short-term or ongoing mentoring and coaching.
We
can bring our independent thinking, facilitation skills and experience
to your situation.

Facilitation
Working
in groups is a powerful way to solve problems and generate new ideas.
But to get the most from a group situation you need an experienced
facilitator who can ensure that all the views are heard and that
people are not ignored. Our experience in group processes means
that we can help you to harness the power of groups in your organisation
and achieve impressive results.
Speaking engagements
Our team are all competent and experienced presenters, much in demand in their respective fields! We are always happy to discuss how we can work with your company or conference to provide topical and engaging presentations. We regularly work with media organisations, providing commentary on our specialist areas.

Training
courses
We
develop and deliver custom training packages for professional organisations
and not for profit groups. Educationally sound and clearly focussed
group learning is a valuable tool for developing strengths and synergies
within groups. Wairua Consulting has delivered training workshops
and presentations nationally and internationally, for example:
- Bay
of Plenty District Health Board, Tauranga: One day workshop focussed
on developing workforce skills and awareness of maternal mental
health.
- Community
Psychiatric Nurses Association, Leeds, UK: Key issues in nurse
prescribing.
- Ewha
Woman's University, Seoul, Korea: The potential benefits available
to indigenous communities from harnessing new information and
communication technologies.
- University
of Auckland: Software development methodologies for electronic
commerce.
- University
of Waikato: The Internet and civil society.
- Unitec,
Auckland: Under-graduate course in eCommerce, post-graduate courses
in strategic planning, project management, community informatics,
communication and mental health.
Our
teaching experience covers business and technology strategies, eBusiness,
project management, community technology (including eGovernment
and eDemocracy), eLearning, technology and small/medium enterprises
(SME), communication, tourism and technology, migration and health.
Online
learning
Many
education providers have made or are making the move to incorporate
eLearning into their curriculum, but what are the key issues for
management, teaching staff and students? Is online learning a management
tool (to reduce cost and increase availability), a teaching tool
(supporting learning through pedagogically sound practices) and
is it student-centred?
Learning
online, outside the live classroom environment presents both opportunities
and challenges. It changes the nature of teaching and the offers
space for different ways of learning to. We have successfully helped
clients, such as the University of Auckland, transition out of the
classroom.
- Our
research in this area is focussed on the potential of online learning
to support different ways of knowing and to extend the learning
space
