Andy empowers people and organisations to become effective users of ICTs. He facilitates the strategic alignment of technology and the development of policy through consultancy, research, evaluation, leadership and advocacy.
His knowledge is grounded in governance, management and consultancy roles, working with technology start-ups, corporates (such as banking, finanance & telecommunications), education, government and civil society groups.
As one of New Zealand's leading community informatics researchers, Andy’s work is recognised internationally, particularly his contribution to citizen-led eDemocracy. His skills include applied, end-user focused research and evaluation. He is regularly invited to participate in national and international fora on ICT and Civil Society. Andy has made significant contributions to community ICT projects through the establishment of community-based groups, his own advocacy role and through his research and consultancy.
Amongst other appointments, Andy is Deputy Chair of the New Zealand Government's Digital Strategy Advisory Group, Chair of the Waitakere Online Editorial Board and a judge for the famous Webby Awards.
