This site contains many resources relating to transcultural mental health in both Australia and New Zealand. Healthy StartHealthy Start is an Australia-wide initiative to support parents with learning difficulties and promote a healthy start to life for their young children. It is a joint partnership between the University of Sydney's Australian Family and Disability Studies Research Collaboration and the Victorian Parenting Centre, and is funded by the Australian Government. The Healthy Start website is an information-rich site that provides access to evidence-informed resources for professionals working with parents who have learning difficulties. Postpartum Support InternationalPostpartum Support International is a US-based social support network, information center and research guide concerning postpartum mood disorders and depression. The Mental Health Foundation of New ZealandA non-profit organisation that offers comprehensive information packages for over 20 different disorders, a bookstore and details of coming events: TABS - Trauma And Birth StressOriginating in New Zealand, TABS is Trauma And Birth Stress, a Charitable Trust that serves as a support group of mothers. We have in common stressful and traumatic pregnancies or births that affected our lives negatively for months or years afterwards. We formed TABS because of the need to make PTSD known as a form of mental illness that can happen following childbirth, but quite distinct from the Baby Blues, Post Natal Depression (Post Partum Depression) and Post Natal Psychosis.
