We are New
Zealand based experts in electronic democracy. eDemocracy is the
use of technology to connect citizens with government. Wairua Consulting's
eDemocracy work includes models for community ICT and strategy development
that informs both policy and practice. Our work in the eDemocracy
and eGovernment fields is inclusive and user-driven, our solutions
are never one-size-fits-all but customised in conjunction with local
stakeholders to create commitment, connection and a strong potential
for success. It is our belief that new technologies can transform
democratic practices and even reverse the trend of political apathy
seen in most post-industrial societies: eDemocracy, through the
appropriate application of ICT and the Internet in particular, offers
an opportunity to reinvent effective models for participatory and
deliberative democracy, where governments 'work with' citizens,
rather than 'do to' them.
We provide
a wide range of eDemocracy and eGovernment research, evaluation,
commentary, advisory and consulting services for national and local
government in New Zealand and around the world, such as:
- Policy development and evaluation.
- Community
ICT strategic planning.
- Council-Community
collaboration for successful ICT outcomes.
- Community
